Macbeth: Act 1 Scene 2 Question?

He hopes to learn the state of the war between the Norweyans and them (the Scottish), because King Duncan is the King of Scotland. They learn in the same scene that their battle was successful, because Macbeth was awesome and killed a bunch of people, even though the Norweyans had a lot of people and new weapons.
