Is it ok to buy items for a baby shower not on her registry?

no not at all! i got plenty of presents at my baby shower that i didn't register for. some things i already had and some i had forgotten to put on my list! as long as you make sure and get a gift receipt you should be good! who knows maybe it'll be the most useful present she gets!
